Simplified Graphic Design Process
In this guide, we will decode the steps involved in creating captivating visuals, whether it’s a stunning logo, an eye-catching brochure, or a visually engaging website. By gaining insight into this streamlined approach, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge to collaborate effectively with designers, communicate your ideas more efficiently, and ultimately achieve your design goals with confidence. So, let’s dive in and embark on this creative journey together.
Initial Meeting:
The client meets the graphic designer to discuss elaborate plans to market, advertise or promote their products. Potentially, there’s a chance that the client wants (needs) the graphic designer to ‘revamp’ the whole image and identity of the client company. The goal is to gain as much information as possible to provide a detailed quote. During the initial meeting, you will discuss your vision, budget, project, timeline and deliverables.
Quote & Contract:
The graphic design will take time to assemble a quote with the information you initially discussed. If the designer requires more information or clarification, they will contact you. If you have deliverables, the designer will get quotes on your behalf. Once they have everything ready, they will email you the quote(s) and include a contract. The contact is vital for you and the designer, including details about payment, design rights, promise to complete work, etc. Every contact varies on services required and project timelines. The designer will commence work once the client accepts the quote and contract and pays the required deposit.
Presentations:
The Graphic designer will present some concepts and ideas. The client will provide feedback. This process is the longest; sometimes, depending on the project, you can go back and forth for a while.
There are three main presentations:
- Initial Design: The client will see the first draft of their project.
- Feedback Changes: The client will see changes along the project process.
- Final Design: The client will see the final product before printing or going live.
Deliverables
If you have deliverables, the graphic designer will be the point of contact on your behalf. The designer has built a relationship with providers and knows what information the provider needs to complete things. A designer won’t make rash decisions that will change the overall outcome without consulting with the client.
Take Away
Understanding the simplified graphic design process empowers clients to embark on their creative endeavours with confidence and clarity. From the initial meeting to the final deliverables, this streamlined approach ensures effective collaboration, efficient feedback loops, and the realization of captivating visual creations. By embracing the power of design, clients can elevate their brand, communicate their message effectively, and leave a lasting impression on their audience.
